10th Anniversary Art Exhibition: Breaking Down The Barriers of Discrimination

Show closed.

Featuring over 30 paintings by African-Canadian artists, Durham West Arts Centre is pleased to present COLOURblind? Living in a colour blind world is the theme of this year's show. "Our intent is to showcase artistic leadership that inspires all Canadians to discuss the very important issue of racial equality" says the show's curator Joan Butterfield. The show started its 2006 southern Ontario tour in January and has appeared at Metro Hall, the Scarborough Civic Centre, Hamilton and Brampton City Halls and at the Oakwood Art Centre. "We are the second last stop for this show," says Angie Littlefield, Executive Director, "But with their grand success, the Association of African-Canadian Artists is already planning their 2007 show and tour."

DWAC will hold a reception for all on Thursday, May 25 from 7-9 p.m.

2006 marks the 10th year of this annual art exhibition featuring the art of up and coming African-Canadian artists from the GTA and surrounding areas.

The Association of African Canadian Artists is a not-for-profit artists association dedicated to the support and development of African-Canadian artists at home and abroad. Formed in 2005, the organization is operated by African-Canadian artists, for African-Canadian artists.
