Young performers from the Pickering Rotary Music Festival and local schools star in summer music concerts for children and youth.

All concerts start at 10 a.m. in the auditorium of the Pickering Central Library and run 45-60 minutes.

The concerts encourage young people to have fun while they learn more about music.

These concerts offer a summer refresher parents will enjoy as well!
- July 7 • MADCAP MUSICAL MANIA
The name says it all! Anything goes this morning! We have young musicians playing and singing everything from Sonatinas to Broadway to piano trios. Gary Faulkner,
Director of DWAC, is our emcee.
- July 14 • MAD ABOUT MINUETS, MOZART, MENDELSSOHN & MORE
Just as the title says,
we have a little of each. Instruments include piano, flute, guitar and oboe. Emcee Marion Roberts, local music
teacher, will lead us through this romantic period of music.
- July 21 • RULE BRITANNIA! MAD ABOUT THE ISLES
This morning promises to be a feast of British
Isles entertainment from British folk songs to Irish dance and the Highland Fling, and even a bagpiper! Duncan
Mathieson, who plays clarinet with the Pickering Concert Band, will emcee.
- July 28 • MADLY TOGETHER
Vocal, dance and instrumental duets and trios abound in this fun
filled hour of fresh young talent. Emcee is Vivienne Joyce, Head of Music, Dunbarton High School.
- August 11 • MAD ABOUT MUSICAL THEATRE
Emcee Anna Lynn Murphy, Director of the Young
Singers, will introduce the young folks who will perform musical theatre selections from Cole Porter to Richard
Rodgers to Andrew Lloyd Weber.
- August 18 • MAD ABOUT THE MAPLE LEAF!
(not hockey, but a tribute to Canadian composers!).
This final morning features a little of everything – piano, vocal and dance with Canadian content, including
original compositions by young musicians. Emcee is DWAC Director, Tim Dobson.
